The Kasko laboratory is currently located in rooms 4021 (Organic Synthesis Laboratory) and 4021 A (Cell Culture Laboratory) Engineering V, UCLA.
Organic Synthesis Laboratory
The Organic Synthesis Lab is fully equipped for chemical synthesis including four chemical fume hoods equipped with Schlenk lines for inert atmosphere and vacuum atmosphere reactions, multiple stirring hotplates, and multiple UV flood lamps (for photoreactions). Additionally, the Kasko lab has a state-of-the-art chromatography system that can be used in several different modes: analytical HPLC, preparative HPLC and GPC and an automated peptide synthesizer.
Cell Culture Laboratory
The Cell Culture Lab is equipped for cell culture, including incubation, (ultra)centrifugation, and sterilization. and a class II biological safety cabinet. Additional equipment includes a lyophilizer, an inverted optical microscope, an inverted fluorescent microscope (Zeiss Axio Observer Z1 with motorized Z stage, including multichannel acquisition, Z-stack and time lapse software modules), a Beckman–Coulter DTX-880 Microplate reader (UV-Vis, fluorescence, luminescence, time-resolved fluorescence, fluorescence polarization) and a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer.
Other Major Equipment
Thermal Analysis Q-800 Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer including Submersion Compression Clamp for in vitro mechanical characterization of biomaterials.
To use any of this equipment, please send your request directly to Professor Kasko.
